In the U.S., it would be safe to say right about now our economy sucks! Although I am not one to comment on the status of our economy, let alone pass judgment since I’m not an expert in economics, its a safe bet. So what else can I say is a safe bet? The supply and demand on oil.
Look at the price-per-barrel for oil today. The oil industry is surely in a supply and demand status where there is more demand then supply which allows the oil companies to (in my opinion) manipulate consumers and raise prices to a historic new high. Last time I checked, oil was hovering around $135.00 PER BARREL! Imagine the revenue they are making.
In either case, the spike in the oil price is hurting the U.S. dollar but making the oil companies richer. But hey, then again, it is all about supply and demand. If you can supply something that is greatly in demand, you’ll reap profits.
DON’T JUST FIND A NICHE, FIND A SUPPLY AND DEMAND NICHE
For those who are not sure what a niche is, a niche is nothing more then a specific sector of a category. That is how I define it, but here is a few examples:
1. Magazines >> Sports Magazine >> Golfing Magazine
2. Auction Site >> eBay >> Automotive >> Car >> Sedan >> V6
3. College >> Online >> Business >> Bachelor’s
Notice that your basically narrowing down to make a “broad” topic more specific, the specific topic is your niche.
Just to clear the concept out of what I just said earlier, there is no “hidden secrets” to finding a S&D niche. Its just a basic term I designated to differentiate a regular niche from a niche that is definitely in demand. For instance, if you find a hidden niche, that’s all great and everything but the question you should incur is “Is this niche a supply and demand niche right now?”
If your able to answer yes to that question and provide proof then you’ve found your niche you’ll want to research. How do you research it? I’ll say nothing more then to “think as a consumer.”
In a later blog post I’ll get into the issue of thinking like a consumer as to me, its the most essential thing when it comes to marketing. You can’t be successful in marketing if your not researching the way your consumers would. In the meantime, get out and find those profitable “supply and demand” niches.
Maybe you’ll be making $135.00 per sale soon…
Yes things seem bad statistically but like my dad always said, it only takes one person’s will to get a job and one person is not a statistic. Lots of 100K jobs -
